Frequently Asked Questions
Take a look at some of our commonly asked questions. And if you have more questions, or want to set up a demo, drop us a line and we'll be happy to talk to you further.
- Do I have to be a part of Mount Sinai to use CMEOutreach?
Nope! You can administer credits through Mount Sinai if you like, but so long as you are a certified CME-granting institution, you can grant your own credits through CMEOutreach.
- How many certificates can we offer?
As many as you like! There is no limit on how many certificates you can have. When you have a new certificate to add, just pass it to us, we'll customize the information layout on it for you (where the names go), and put it online. Once it's up, you can use it for as many (or few) activities as you like.
- Sometimes we have to give different certificates to MDs and non-MDs. Can we do that?
Absolutely! In fact, CMEOutreach is set up so that every activity offers an MD certificate and a non-MD certificate. They don't have to be different, but they can be.
- How do the doctors get their certificates?
Once a medical professional has completed a test -- and the evaluation, if it was required -- they'll see a link to download their certificate from the site. All certificates are PDFs and can be easily opened in Acrobat Reader.
- I'm a medical professional and I'd like to get CME on this site. Can I do that?
You'll have to have your hospital or educational institution use CMEOutreach to host their CME. Once that's set up, they'll give you a site to login to, and you can read activities and receive credits online.
- Can we make it so MDs see different tests than non-MDs in the same activity?
You sure can. When you create at test, you specify if it's for MDs, non-MDs, or both. And it only shows up if the person logged in has the correct degree.
- According to the new AMA regulations, doctors and other medical professionals have to manually enter the amount of credit hours they claim per test (they can claim up to the maximum allowed per test). Can they do that in CMEOutreach?
Yes. Once a doctor has completed a test and before they receive their certificate, they're taken to a "claim credits" screen, where they can claim credits, in quarter hour increments, up to the maximum credit hours allotted.
- How do we define what degrees are for MD and what degrees are for non-MD?
When we set up your initial site for you, you can let us know how you classify this, and we'll set it up for you.
- Sometimes we need to change add different evaluations. Can we do that here?
You can have as many evaluations as you like, and it's very easy to attach an evaluation to a test -- or change the evaluation you've already added.
- How long would it take me to get set up with a CMEOutreach site?
A basic site, with MSSM certificates, can be ready to go for you in less than 10 minutes! If you want to add non-MSSM certificates we'll add these for you and customize the information layout within just a couple days. And if you'd like a customized look, we can discuss your needs with you, and come up with the best solution and time-frame to meet your goals. Let us know what you're thinking, and we'll work with you to get it just right.
- Can we host this application on our own servers?
No, CMEOutreach is hosted on our servers so you don't have to worry about hosting and security. But rest assured that each application is secure and private -- and no one sees or accesses your data but you.
